
A heartbreaking incident occurred in Farranshock Estate, Mullingar, Co Westmeath, where a young boy lost his life after being struck by a car. The collision took place shortly after 6:30 PM yesterday.
Emergency services responded promptly, treating the boy at the scene before transferring him by ambulance to Regional Hospital Mullingar. Despite efforts, he was sadly pronounced deceased at the hospital.
The coroner has been informed, and a post-mortem examination will be conducted in due course. Garda Forensic Collision Investigators have secured the area for a detailed examination.
Gardaí are urging witnesses to come forward, particularly road users or pedestrians in the vicinity at the time who may have camera footage, such as dash-cam recordings.
